Job Summary
Fear Screen is seeking passionate horror journalists and writers to contribute to Panic Press, our online blog dedicated to all things horror and spooky. Whether your expertise lies in classic Gothic literature, contemporary horror cinema, genre analysis, or the latest terrifying trends, we want to hear from you. This voluntary role offers creative freedom to explore your interests whilst building your portfolio and connecting with a growing community of horror enthusiasts.
About the Role
As a Horror Journalist for Panic Press, you'll craft engaging, well-researched articles covering horror films, spooky culture, genre history, filmmaker spotlights, festival coverage, and anything that makes readers' skin crawl. You'll have the freedom to pitch your own ideas and develop a distinctive voice within the horror community.
Key Responsibilities
- Writing original blog articles on horror films, culture, history, and spooky content
- Researching and analysing horror cinema from silent era classics to contemporary releases
- Covering Fear Screen festival news, filmmaker interviews, and film submissions
- Pitching creative article ideas that align with Panic Press content themes
- Engaging with the horror community through thoughtful, well-crafted commentary
- Meeting agreed-upon deadlines for article submissions
What We're Looking For
- Strong writing skills with a clear, engaging style
- Genuine passion for horror films and spooky culture
- Ability to research topics thoroughly and present information accurately
- Knowledge of horror cinema history, tropes, or subgenres (or eagerness to learn)
- Creativity in pitching unique angles and fresh perspectives
- Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with Markdown formatting is helpful but not essential
